Dr. Yun Liu

Dr. Yun Liu received his B.S. in Mechanics from University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China, in 1986, a M.S. in Opto-electronics in 1991 and a Ph.D. in Electronics in 1994, both from Shizuoka University, Hamamatsu, Japan.
From 1994 until 1996, he was a Research Assistant at the Shizuoka University. In 1996, he joined Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute (ATRI), Kyoto, Japan, as a research scientist. During May ~ September, 2000, he was a visiting researcher at Photonics Research Lab., UCLA. He received ATR Research Award in 1999.
In 2001, Dr. Liu joined the Center for Engineering Science Advanced Research (CESAR) in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division. ORNL as a Postdoctoral Researcher. His research interests include the experimental and numerical investigations of optical injection locking, laser nonlinear dynamics, optical signal generation, and optical metrology.
He has published 35 journal articles and over 20 conference proceedings in semiconductor lasers, nonlinear dynamics, and fiber optics. He holds 3 Japan patents in laser systems and optical communications (Japan Patent No. 2960406, No. 3073945, No. 3081569).
He is a Member of OSA.
