Dr. Cassius D.Helon is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Engineering Science Advanced Research (CESAR), Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, TN, and is working on research and mathematical modeling in quantum control and algorithms.

Previously, Dr. D.Helon has been Assistant Professor in Biophysics and Bioinstrumentation at Griffith University, where he established, coordinated and lectured two new subjects, contributed to the research efforts of health science groups, and took on the role of first-year coordinator for undergraduate students.

Dr. D.Helon received his Ph.D. degree in Physics in 1997, with the thesis "Quantum-limited measurements on trapped laser-cooled ions", from The University of Queensland, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education in 1999 from Griffith University.

Awards:

  • Awarded the Australian Postgraduate Research Award for PhD study - in the top quartile of nationwide applicants
  • Awarded the Griffith University Teaching Bursary for meritorious teaching efforts
  • Awarded the University of Queensland Medal for outstanding academic achievement in the BSc. degree - in the top ten percent of UQ graduates
